Pic by Northwest Newpix.Students worrying about getting accommodation in Letterkenny have been offered the perfect solution – after a hotel offered them cut-price rooms with all the mod-cons.Gleneany House on the town’s Port Road was once a leading 24 bedroom hotel with a bar and very busy restaurant. The hotel, which was owned by the kelly family, closed in 2011 but has opened again offering students at Letterkenny Institute of Technology their own rooms. As well as en-suite bedrooms, the hotel offers students wi-fi to each room, cable television, central heating, dishwasher, microwaves, parking, 24 hour security and even has its own student restaurant. The hotel is just a two minute walk from the college.Letting agent for the hotel rooms, Manus McGroddy, said there has been a huge interest in the student hotel.“I went to college in Dublin many years ago and we certainly didn’t have accommodation like this. “We have put a lot of thought and effort into this because there is a severe accommodation crisis in the town.“If Carlsberg could do student accommodation then this would be it. We’re offering Carlsberg accommodation at Ryanair prices,” he said.Rooms at the student hotel start at €60 a week and Manus says they are filling up fast.“To be honest, we’re down to our last few. It really does tick all the boxes. The hotel was sitting vacant but it was given an overhaul and it is ready for the students now.”Manus said the only thing that was missing was a free bar! “Unfortunately we aren’t going that far but there is plenty of great bars in Letterkenny – not that students would get much time to socialise when they are studying so hard,” said Manus.IF CARLSBERG DID STUDENT ACCOMMODATION……HOTEL RE-OPENS WITH ALL MOD CONS! was last modified: August 26th, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more
