Cascarino Solskjaer may sell Pogba this summer

first_imgOle Gunnar Solskjaer may decide to cash in on Paul Pogba this summer should he become the permanent Manchester United manager, says Tony Cascarino. The French midfielder had a low-key outing in Saturday’s FA Cup exit at the hands of Wolves upon scoring nine goals and eight assists in his opening 20 games under caretaker boss Solskjaer.Following a 2-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal, Solskjaer was handed a second consecutive loss at Molineux as Wolves defeated United 2-1 in a quarter-final tie following goals from Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota. And former Chelsea striker Cascarino wasn’t the least bit impressed by Pogba’s display.“Pogba has done brilliantly since Solskjaer came in but against Wolves, on Saturday, he reminded me of the in-and-out player that he was under Jose Mourinho,” Cascarino wrote in his column for The Times.“He was doing what he liked at times but not affecting the opposition. I don’t know whether the past few weeks are as good as it gets with him.”English media claim that Solskjaer will be named the permanent United manager during the international break following a strong start in the Old Trafford dugout.Harry Maguire, Manchester UnitedLiverpool legend Nicol slams Harry Maguire’s Man United form Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Steve Nicol believes Harry Maguire has made some “horrendous mistakes” recently, and has failed to find his best form since joining Manchester United. The Norwegian has won 14 of his opening 19 matches in charge and lost just three as United reached the Champions League quarter-finals and returned into the thick of the Premier League top-four battle. In light of this, Cascarino has suggested that Solskjaer may decide to get a nice fee by selling the inconsistent Pogba in favour of signing someone more reliable.Cascarino added: “If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gets the Manchester United job in the summer, Paul Pogba will present one of his biggest dilemmas.“If so, Solskjaer may wish to cash in on him for a lot of money. I would be tempted to replace him with someone he can trust a bit more.“It will be a real challenge of Solskjaer’s management skills.”Pogba is currently away on international duty for France, who will take a trip to Moldova on Friday for their first EURO 2020 qualifier in Group H before hosting Iceland in Paris three days later.WOLVERHAMPTON, ENGLAND – MARCH 16: Paul Pogba of Manchester United reacts following defeat in the FA Cup Quarter Final match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United at Molineux on March 16, 2019 in Wolverhampton, England.
