Henrichs Henry will bounce back from Monaco disaster

first_imgThierry Henry is a “perfectionist” like Pep Guardiola and will bounce back from his disastrous spell in charge of AS Monaco, says Benjamin Henrichs. The French club turned to Henry last October in a desperate bid to overturn their terrible season shortly after sacking Leonardo Jardim. In what was his first managerial role, Henry only oversaw five victories in his 20 matches in charge. Monaco languished down in the Ligue 1 relegation zone and crashed out of the Champions League group stages. The Arsenal legend was given his marching orders in January and, ironically, replaced by Jardim in the dugout.“I suffered with him,” Henrichs told Goal and SPOX.“When a coach is sacked, it usually means that you’ve done something wrong as a team. For him personally, it is extremely sad.“Although he did not succeed in Monaco, I’m convinced that he has the potential to become a great coach.”Opinion: Neymar needs to apologize to PSG’s supporters Tomás Pavel Ibarra Meda – September 14, 2019 After such a dramatic summer during the transfer window, Neymar truly needs to apologize to all the PSG supporters this weekend. When Neymar finished last…Upon being confirmed as Monaco manager in October, Henry declared that his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola would be his “reference” point. And Henrichs certainly did see something of Guardiola in Henry, but feels Monaco’s crisis at the time of his arrival was something out of his control.“He is a perfectionist and has put a lot of emphasis on doing every single exercise cleanly,” Henrichs said.“He was a little fanatic and I think he has learned a lot from Pep Guardiola from his time at Barcelona.“He took over the team in a very difficult phase because nobody knew exactly how to deal with the relegation battle.“In addition, some regular players were injured and young players with less experience had to fill these gaps. It [the situatuon] was very unfortunate for him.”Since Henry’s departure, Monaco have won four of their last eight games in all competitions under Jardim and sit 16th in Ligue 1.HenryMONACO, MONACO – NOVEMBER 06: Thierry Henry the coach of Monaco ahead of the Group A match of the UEFA Champions League between AS Monaco and Club Brugge at Stade Louis II on November 06, 2018 in Monaco, Monaco.
