The event, which is an effort to install free smoke alarms, will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 1 p.m., the American Red Cross press release detailed. The rally point for the event will be the OFR central station located at 1100 W. 2nd St. Home fires kill seven people every day in the United States, the release stated. The American Red Cross will install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing alarms and help families create home fire escape plans in various Odessa neighborhoods.
