first_imgNine members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) surrendered to the police in Chattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Sunday, the police claimed.“Nine Maoists left the CPI(Maoist) and surrendered to the police in presence of Dantewada district SP Kamlochan Kashyap on Sunday after getting disillusioned with the Maoist movement due to constant discrimination and exploitation [by senior leaders]. The Maoists, who surrendered on Sunday, also include Nanda, the gunman of senior Maoist leader Ganesh Uike and a member of the CPI(Maoist) Dand Karanya Special Zonal Committee ,” the police said.Nanda alias Barse had joined the rebels in 2009.last_img
