Amended Lifeline Law Clears House

first_imgAn expanded version of Indiana’s Lifeline Law passed the House on Wednesday.Senate Bill 227 would give immunity to intoxicated minors who call 911 to report a medical emergency or crime.It would also allow first responders to administer drugs that temporarily reverse the effects of drug overdose.Rep. Jud McMillin (R-Brookville) is a supporter of the bill, saying, “Very rarely do we get the chance to vote on laws that literally save lives. This is one of those times!”A house committee amended the bill to include a measure for a group to study sexual violence in Indiana. The committee would investigate how many people fall victim to sexual violence and why cases go reported or unreported.The bill now heads back to the Senate.last_img
